Devlog Week 2 : Character design & In-Game Mechanic


This week we had made  character design and finalized the detail of the core mechanic, feature, and  gameplay objective.

  1. Polishing the script of for the game plot
  2.  Made  a character design for the 4 main character based on the moodboard
  3.  Finalized the in-game core mechanic and game ideas

Result

Feature and Mechanic

  • the game will start as Aria as the first main playale character and Rama as the 2nd main playable character
  • Aria and Rama have their own unique abilities, and the players were required to switch between characters during the game to be able to proceed certain area that required certain abilites
  • Aria's unique abilites are having the ability to cast a ranged magic attack and double jump
  • Rama's unique abilites are having the ability to grab on walls after jump and dash to designeted direction.
  • Throughout the game, player will encounter a wooden handle that can be lit into a fire torch, this fire torch will act as the checkpoint
  • The players are given 5 hearts as the health level indicator. Each enemy hit will reduce one heart, if the player loses all 5 hearts, game over screen will be triggered and the player will have to choose wether to retry from checkpoint or just quit to the main menu
